Calvin Harris at the center

I really dig that the Apple marketing crew are using Calvin Harris on the website. Now, I think the new iPod nanos will be a decent success, but I have questions about their features.

"Shake to shuffle" is really innovative, but why is it only appearing in the nano? A future iPhone update could bring old devices up to date, so possibly Apple is just testing out the feature on one device. Throwing my iPhone across the room is not what I'd like when changing the music.

Need a bike? Trouver une station

Vélib is sweeping France. The New York Times wrote a lovely article today about the company whose name means "free bicycle" or "bicycle freedom." In Paris, over 20,000 bicycles are available to rent. Need to find one? Check online or just around the block.

The service is fashionable and afordable. However, there are concerns about helmets.

Could this happen in Shreveport? Or Fayetteville? Little Rock? I could see it taking off for several reasons, but we're gonna have to work on them roads. ;)

Don't think you can find a bike? Just see the map.

Walmart's new logo is just...well...fresh? [Middle aged excitement heating up!]

Brand New has a new post today covering Walmart's new logo. Being a small, toothless child from the south I'm not sure how I feel about the logochange of my childhood amusemant partk. No one, including Walmart, seems to know exactly what the asterisk means. Possibly a sphincter? Or a sun? A star? Commenter Ren says it best:

"I think that the little sun thingy looks a lot like one of the sprites used to animate Pac-Man as he dies from getting eaten by a ghost."

The "W" does resemble the Wii. Or possibly they're stealing ideas from Wallpaper*. Either way, design blogs today aren't loving it, but I'd imagine that Walmart is happy with it. The new logo says, techie-evironment-natural-approachable. Frankly, that's what they're looking for. They may just get it.

Where to blend them feeds...?

Now that Feed Blendr (a great service) is about to officially die, I've got to find a new way to import notes from 3 places. I do this straight into my notes for Facebook purposes. I checked out Feed Rinse, but it's wonky web pages are driving me mad. It won't produce a single feed from three (as far as I can tell).

Now, I'll try Yahoo! Pipes, but I'm not thrilled to use a service that could just run away for a week and not tell anyone.
